Brendan Connor has caught the Olympic bug. He’s seen the Olympians winning medals and fancies some glory for himself. But Brendan is an impatient man, he doesn’t want to wait as long, or train as hard, as they did. Why should he in a world of instant success and gratification? That's why he's chosen the fast track to fame and is going for gold in the world's most competitive sport - Chilli Pepper Eating.
Going for Gold was first performed at Plays with Words at The Actors Centre in 2012. It was subsequently performed at the CornerHouse, Surbiton as part of their 2013 one-act festival in April and May.
A new extended version of the play was performed as part of Arts in the Park at Fairfield, Kingston and The Grove, Surbiton for the 2014 Surbiton Festival.
The next production of the play is scheduled for October 23rd as part of Laugh Kingston Comedy Festival.
